Help Support Research into Crohns in Childhood

A little while ago I told you about some work I did for Jiggy Linty and their project to raisemoney for CICRA (Crohn's In Childhood Research Association - Registered Charity Number 278212).

To help raise money for CICRA, Jiggy Linty has produced a creative book containing some unique imagery from graphic designers and illustrators based on the word 'fellowship'. The book is now available to buy!! For as little as £5, you can get your hands on Jiggy Linty's lovely book and help CICRA with their research into Crohn's in Childhood. To find out more, simply click here.

Thanks guys. x

Jen's Make Do & Munch Apple Pie

Now and then you'll see me post one of my recipes that I've cobbled together. I'm very much a "bit of this, bit of that" type chef in the kitchen and being a student, I've grown used to making do with what's in my cupboards. And so here we have a really simple recipe for an apple pie using old apples - you know, those apples you've had sitting there for perhaps a little too long!

Ingredients:
  • 6 to 8 old apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2.5 tbsp brown sugar
  • 75 ml cold water
  • Pack of ready rolled puff pastry
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Icecream
1. peel, core and chop old apples.

2. add to pan with water, sugar and cinnamon then simmer for 20mins on a low heat.

3. place mix into oven dish and allow to cool.

4. meanwhile, roll out puff pastry and cut out a rectangle to fit over the top of your stewed apples. if desired, cut out some decorations too to snazz up your pie. once the apples have cooled, place your puff pastry lid on top. Brush puff pastry with beaten egg

6. bung in the oven for 25mins, 190 degree in a fan oven. serve with icecream. done.

It's so easy. And you can customise it to your own tastes i.e. use bitter apples for a better tasting pie, or chuck in chopped nuts and dried fruits to your stewed apples for extra flavour. Enjoy. x

Recycle

I'm all for trying to reduce our impact on the earth and I myself recycle in many ways and it's amazing how creative you can be with old materials. Check this laptop case out by Artecnica, an LA based design company who recycle old billboards and line them with black neoprene to add softness and protection. Simple and beautiful - love it.

We love tea

I'm looking to produce a beautiful photographic book for one of my uni briefs and I've been overwhelmed by how co-operative and generous the people of my town are. The book I'm looking to produce is all about tea, how it's drunk by all walks of life and how everyone has their own little way of having their tea. I've been here, there and everywhere photographing the lovely people of Hastings and St Leonards and I can't wait to show you the finished results! Here's a sneak peek at some of my photos so far!
